Dave Vukets takes home the bronze at the U23 Canadian National Cycling Champs

Quebec City, QB. – From July 4 to the 6th the Canadians battled in St. Georges de Beauce (Quebec) for the National titles. For the second straight year the Trek Red Truck Racing Team stands on the podium at the Canadian National Cycling Championships.

Elite/U23 Men’s Road Race
In the combined elite and U23 mens race only 35 riders out of 110 finished the road race. Dave came in 13th beating out top professional riders such as Symmetric’s Andrew Pinfold and Dominique Rollin from Toyota-united pro cycling team. However, despite the support of the powerful Trek Red Truck squad it was not an easy task. The 173 kilometre course was familiar to anyone who had raced the Tour de Beauce a few weeks earlier - the 9.6 kilometre circuit was stage five. Dominated by a finishing climb of 1500 metres, the course had strong crosswinds and discouraged single riders or small groups, and the 18 laps and high 30 degree temperature broke a lot of riders, with only 35 of 135 starters finishing.

Symmetrics, had a full squad with 11 riders, and were definitely the dominant team in the race. "It was definitely a hard, hard day out there," commented Vukets. "I couldn't have done it without the rest of my team, any one of them were strong enough to win”.

Men’s Time-Trial (40 km)
The Canadian TT title at the elite-men's level was won for the fourth time in his career by Trek Alumni Svein Tuft. His three earlier titles were in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Taking 7th spot 3min 15 sec back was Trek Red Truck’s Rob Britton.
